The NAIA and Missouri Valley College document a collegiate career that the Academy's discipline material sits on top of: four-time NAIA All-American from 1995 to 1998, three individual NAIA national championships at 177 pounds from 1996 to 1998, and team national championships with Missouri Valley in 1996 and 1997.

The NAIA lists a 144-26 collegiate record and a program record of 520 career takedowns, and inducted him into its Hall of Fame in men's wrestling. The NAIA also states he graduated in 1999 with a degree in human-service agency management and recreation administration.

The Academy teaches from that pattern rather than from the highlights: preparation over hope, consistency over intensity, and a standard that holds when the goal changes.
